Costumes are encouraged! To be considered for the costume contest awards, visit the giant Penguin between 8:00 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. to have your picture taken for the judges. Please make sure your costume does not interfere with your safety or the safety of other participants. Awards will be given to the top 5 costumes and awarded at the end of the event. The overall costume winner will receive a special prize. Judging will occur during the 5K run/walk and judges will consist of the students from the Papillion-La Vista Health Systems Academy. IMPORTANT: YOU MUST HAVE YOUR RACE NUMBER ON AND VISIBLE IN THE PHOTO!
Reindeer Run Considerations
Teams of three will run the course tethered together. The first runner will be tethered to runner two, and runner two to runner three. Each runner must be within 2 arms length of each other. All teams must use the rope provided in the packet, so all Reindeer Run teams MUST pick their packets up at Packet Pick-up. The race bib should be attached to the first runner of each team. All teams are asked to run/walk single file when near other participants out of respect and safety for other participants.
Registration and check-in will be located in the parking lot near Firestone in the Southeast corner of Shadow Lake Towne Center. The event route will use the roads south of the shopping center's property and the lake in the Shadow Lake housing development. Click here to download a map of the event route.
NOTE: The chance of snow and freezing temperatures can cause slick conditions on the route. You will be running at your own risk, so please be careful!
Medals & Awards
Medals will be awarded in the Jingle Bell Run to the top 3 females and top 3 males in each age group.
Age Groups: 19 & under; 20 to 29; 30 to 39; 40 to 49; and 50 to 59.
Medals will be awarded to the top 3 females and top 3 males in the Mr. & Mrs. Claus Run (60 & up).
The top 3 teams in the Reindeer Run will receive a medal for each participant.
There are no medals awarded for the 1-Mile Penguin Run.
Water Stations / First Aid / Restrooms
A water station will be available on the course. First aid will be available at the registration table. If restroom use is needed, please be considerate of the surrounding businesses and use the portable restrooms that will be provided near the start/finish.
Cancellations & Refunds
Sorry, there are no refunds. The entry fee for this year's event will not transfer to next year's event.
The weather will more than likely be cold - it is December in Nebraska. Please plan and dress accordingly! The event will continue as scheduled unless extremely severe weather conditions exist. In the event of cancellation due to weather, there will be no refunds because all proceeds of the event benefit the Papillion-La Vista Health Systems Academy.
